NBC had launched a superhero drama about ordinary people discovering extraordinary abilities, and audiences responded immediately. The premiere attracted roughly 14 million U.S. viewers . The episode Homecoming climbed to around 16 million , while the Season Two premiere pushed even higher, reaching almost 17 million viewers . For a new serialized television drama, those were enormous numbers. Then something changed. More than a decade later, another series arrived with almost none of the advantages Heroes appeared to have. Cobra Kai did not begin as a massive network event.
