Episode 13 of Tales of Astronomy , titled Parade of the Planets , is a wonderful turning point in the series. Instead of focusing on just one planet, this episode looks back at the entire Solar System and brings together many of the scientific ideas introduced in earlier adventures. True to the spirit of the series, it does this not through a dry review lesson, but through a magical and imaginative story full of humor, worry, invention, and reflection.  In the 1970s in London, young fashion designer Estella de Ville became obsessed with dog skins, especially Dalmatians, until she eventually became a ruthless and terrifying legend like Cruella.

The feature film about Cruella was announced in 2011.  Andrew Gunn was hired to produce the film with Glenn Close, who previously played the eponymous heroine in the 1996 film adaptation, served as executive producer,  and Kelly Marcel revised the script, which was originally written by Alain Brooch McKenna. On January 6, 2016, Emma Stone was hired to play the eponymous role of Cruella de Ville. In August 2016, Jazz Butterworth was hired to rewrite the previous draft of the script.  In November 2016, it was reported that Disney had hired Alex Timbers to direct the feature adaptation, while Mark Platt joined the film as a producer.  However, in December 2018, it was revealed that Timbers had left the film due to planning conflicts, and instead, Craig Gillespie would direct the film, replacing Timbers.

Cruella is a 2021 American crime comedy film based on the heroine Cruella de Ville, introduced by Dodi Smith's 1956 novel One Hundred and One Dalmatians and the 1961 Disney film of the same name. The film was directed by Craig Gillespie, written by Dana Fox and Tona McNamara, and designed by Alain Brooch McKenna, Kelly Marcel, and Steve Zisis.  Emma Stone plays the eponymous heroine, and the supporting cast consists of Emma Thompson, Joel Fry, Paul Walter Hauser, Emily Beacham, and Mark Strong. Stone and Glenn Close, who played Cruella in the feature remake and sequel "102 Dalmatians," also serve as the film's executive producers.

The film is scheduled to be released in the United States on May 28, 2021, by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. In August 2019, during the D23 Expo, it was revealed that the main photography for Cruella had already begun. The first official image of the film starring Stone as Cruella de Vil with three adult Dalmatians on a leash, Hauser as Horace and Fry as Jasper was also unveiled during the event. In September 2019, Mark Strong, Emily Beacham, and Kirby Howell-Baptist were elected Boris, Anita, and Tabitha, respectively.  The photos were completed in November 2019. Cruella was originally scheduled to be released on December 23, 2020,  but was postponed to May 28, 2021, when filming began.
